History
The Minnesota American Legion Riders (ALR) Post 172 was organized in the early part of 2006 by a small group of members
at the post. By summer there were 52 members riding all makes of motorcycles including Harley Davidson, Honda, Yamaha,
Indian, Kawasaki, Suzuki, and even a 455 cubic inch Oldsmobile trike.

Our Charter
Our organization follows the guidelines as set forth in Resolution # 35 of the National Executive Committee of The American
Legion, Indianapolis, Indiana, Oct 17-18, 2007.

The American Legion Department of Minnesota has officially recognized the ALR program and is currently in the process
of setting up new guidelines for the Minnesota ALR. Legion Post 172 also recognizes the ALR within its organization
and further monitors any guidelines for its ALR program.

Our Leaders (directors)
Our directors are nominated each year in April and elected by the membership in May. The annual term runs
from July 1 thru June 30th. Every position is open to the membership. The positions include the ALR Director,
Assistant Director, Ride Coordinator, Finance Director, Secretary/Historian, Chaplin, and Membership Director.
